About
AWS Snowball is a part of the AWS Snow Family and is an edge computing, data migration, and edge storage device. There are two options for the device, Snowball Edge Storage Optimized devices and Snowball Edge Compute Optimized devices. The Storage Optimized devices provide both block storage and Amazon S3-compatible object storage. The Compute Optimized devices have 40 vCPUs and can run EC2 AMIs and deploy AWS Lambda code. Snowball can transport multiple terabytes of data and multiple devices can be used in parallel or clustered together to transfer petabytes of data into or out of AWS.
