Alluxio is an open-source data orchestration layer that helps users to overcome the inconsistency in performance for analytic workloads on S3 and the expensive data egress charges. Object storage performance is unpredictable, making it difficult to manage data elastically. Alluxio provides a global namespace that can be used across many storage systems with different APIs including HDFS, S3, POSIX, Java and REST. This makes it easier to access data in a variety of ways.
